This is my '64 LI 125, which I restored about 5 years ago. The engine work was done by a shop in Pennsylvania, Scooter Originali, and is now a 175 cc.

My original LI150 series 3. 1966. SE London plate with buff log book and sold from a dealer a mile down the road from me back in the day.

Oh and here's the TV175 I've had for just over a year now.
Restored by Scootopia in Weston with a 12v conversion
I've added a 'GT' very slim style rear carrier (aka Super/Ken Cobbing which is odd), some original red and black candy stripe legshield beading, bubble grips and damper gators.

I was extremely fortunate enough to have been involved in the Le Mans Goes Mod weekender in 2012 (see Theirry's thread elsewhere on the site mentioning 2014) and rode the scooter around the track with a few other like minded nutters...

Do you have anymore pictures of the rear carrier on your TV and what happened to your GS?

Hello mate. Here's a pic of the rack resting on something it shouldn't. Apologies for the large size...

The GS- well...it's a story to be told over a pint sometime perhaps. All I'll say is that i've managed to end up with two Lambrettas that i'm thoroughly happy with.

Nicky- I used to read about your trails and tribulations with your GS on the Yahoo GS/SS Group up to the point where you put it up for sale. A lot of your troubles I too experienced with my GS so understood why you sold it. You did well if you got a restored TV from Scootopia for it, never mind two Lambretta's!

As for the carrier I wanted to see if it was similar to the one on my SX. When I get a chance, I'll post some photos up of them.

A recent Blackheath Panthers ride to Eastbourne and back. I have no idea where this was but the landscape was so desolate I was expecting Mel Gibson to ambush us for our petrol with a shotgun and a dog.

Nick - your photograph looks like Ashdown Forest near Crowborough Army camp to me - I suspect you rode through the Forest, down on to the Uckfield by-pass and then along the A22 to Eastbourne.

Hello! I had no idea the forum was active again. I have spent the last couple of years mostly rebuilding Lambrettas.
Here is my daily ride...a 63 Li150 with a GP150 top end, 22mm Dellorto and a lovely loud and ineffectual teapot exhaust.

Invested the 2,000 my Nan gave me when she died a couple of years ago into it. It was she who helped get my first scooter when aged 16 a second-hand Vespa PK50 in black, which as was the fashion of the day I attacked with this thin silver and gold pin-stripe giving it the JPS look...  that'll date it!!

Gorgeous scoot there SC. I'm sure your gran would be pleased you used the money to get such an obviously treasured possession.
Incidentally my first scooter was a PK80 in red (& white after I fell off it). Those were the days.

Cheers Razors - I've had the GS for years but me Nan's money gave me the opportunity to invest in something I loved and in getting it done up - otherwise the money would have just gone on Gas-bills, Cat-food and nappies etc etc...

We all have dreams about what colours 'your' scooter would be given a choice... then when you're confronted with it it's a really tough decision... I went for an eiree-dess blue-black to try and mirror a 'midnight blue' mohair finish.

Sadly I broke the kick-start en route to MOT in November. I managed to get a pattern one to get it through MOT but it's cr*p and the teeth have all but worn away already - E-bay rubbish!

...so if anyone has a spare GS160 Mk1 kick-start going spare please drop me a PM

My trusty old GS 160 Mk1

Invested the 2,000 my Nan gave me when she died a couple of years ago into it. It was she who helped get my first scooter when aged 16 a second-hand Vespa PK50 in black, which as was the fashion of the day I attacked with this thin silver and gold pin-stripe giving it the JPS look...  that'll date it!!

Wow that really is gorgeous. Nice one

Hi , if you`re on face book .There is a GS group that has parts / accessories for sale.  Might be worth asking .  Lovely scooter BTW. For me, the GS is the best scooter ever made.    Good luck.

Cheers Bill. It's one of the many interesting period facia's they have at Goodwood Motor Circuit - where they stage the revival and parts of the Festival of Speed. They have other nice period odds and sods such as red phone boxes and even a Granny Takes a Trip van...

Nice as they are they're not a patch on The Hoover building just up the road from you (Tesco's or no Tesco's)

Yeah, the Hoover is practically unrivalled. I haven't been in since Tesco moved in - I'm just being snotty - but I'll give in to it one day.

So, yes and no Simon.
The city, after many false starts is getting back on it's feet, after years of promise and false starts. The center is coming back, the neighborhoods are still embarrassingly poverty stricken.  The "Ruin Porn" craze looks finally over (Thank God).
Music is in a bit of a lull now a lot of momentum was lost after the White Stripes left (and we don't even have a "Soul Night" within the city limits! We do a poor job of embracing our Motown heritage!) They throw a fairly large Elec. Music Fest every June..We do have some great record shops, restaurants, lounges, a world class art museum... I like the diversity and mix of cultures in the city proper.. Tourists seem to like it. People who live here do either love it or loathe it. I count myself in the "Love" column.

Undoubtedly, lammies are more aesthetically pleasing, but it's also true that, invariably, the guy stopped at the side of the road during a run will 9 times out of 10 be riding a lammy! The perils of riding a 50 yr old scoot, eh?  ;)

That PX is in great condition for its age , Doc. .

I had a PX a number of moons ago and they are very reliable( it you have the right amount of choke, usually first kick) . I modified mine of course , and it went like s**t off a shiny shovel . .

Happy scootering , Buddie. .  8)

Cheers, Simon! Was originally what I call vespa red, you know the colour, but was resprayed the current Old English white and black before I got her in 2010. Has the odd little ding here and there, but is in great nick. And I do my best to keep it that way. Had some starting issues recently, but cleaned out the starter jet and it's two or three kicks maximum. All I need now is some decent weather!!  ;)

Great scooters are PXs.
I had one and it kicked first time everytime no matter how cold it was.
I understand the modern ones have an electric start now?
Title: Re: Scooter pics - show us here...
Post by: DrGonzo2411 on July 08, 2015, 09:48:00 AM
Rarely lets me down, Steve. The modern disc version PXs all have electric starters but, to me, they feel like a bit of a kop out!!
Title: Re: Scooter pics - show us here...
Post by: Simon Bond on July 08, 2015, 03:08:27 PM
To me , the electric start will add a big heavy starter motor and battery , which means , extra weight /reduced performance . .

After two unsuccessfull kicks , I would be concerned but very rarely came to that apart from the time when the points were shagged and I had to bump start it . . ::)

I always liked the Quadrophenia start. Put it on the centre stand , kick it into life , climb on , adjust choke to good tick-over, a bit of throttle , feet up on the boards and you are off as the centre stand slams against its stop . .  8)
Title: Re: Scooter pics - show us here...
Post by: DrGonzo2411 on July 09, 2015, 10:22:53 AM
Quadrophenia start looks cool, Simon but, if you're a big fecker like me, you go through stand feet at a shocking rate!!
Title: Re: Scooter pics - show us here...
Post by: Trotsky on July 09, 2015, 01:17:20 PM
That is a lovely PX and you obviously love it. Man and machine as one.

I would also not advise doing the drive off the stand. The stand may look indestructible but it will bend and can snap off where it joins the body. I know from personal experience. I would never even sit on it when its up on the stand.

I fitted a pair of after market metal( aviation grade aluminium) stand feet , when the original ones wore out . That one set lasted for several years until I sold it . I am certainly one of the smaller faces but the manoeuvre still worked well when I had my girlfriend on the back and she was a least my weight or a wee bit more even . It is also easier for a lady to get on the pillion position when the scooter is on the stand , especially if you have a backrest on the scooter and she has a skirt on . .   :P

I've always had rubber stand feet, maybe aluminium is the way forward. Missus point blank refuses to get on with me, skirt or no skirt (that's her, by the way, my skirt-wearing days are over!!!)

To me , the electric start will add a big heavy starter motor and battery , which means , extra weight /reduced performance . .

Changing the crank sounds like a bigger job than a kit . .

if you fit a kit properly you're more than likely to have some porting work done to get the max power from it. Having the crank changed and spacers fitted on the barrel and head does increase cc's but keeps reliability when compared to fitting a kit and is cheaper(just make sure you get a balanced crank) to buy, so a bigger job perhaps but worth it imo

I fitted a 180 kit to a P125X . Pollini barrel (5 port with Asso piston) , 30mm Dellorto (jetted by me to suit) ,Simoncini exit and a 5 plate clutch to take the extra oommff. Reliability was fine but obviously the next step would have been to alter the inlet port and thereby the inlet period. I would have had that done professionally since splitting the crankcase on the PE/PX range was never easy. .

I was going to post the motor to Midlands for this but circumstances changed and I sold the scoot' . .but that was over 30yrs ago. . ;D

Back on the road after a few years. Love this one as I've had it 25 years. Running a pretty standard 225 now.

Just a few things I want to change (original Fiam runner board extensions) and it will be exactly how I want it.

Cheers fella.

Always had Series 3s in the past but fell in love with a Series 2 in Liverpool in the late 90s that a lad I knew had. Always promised myself one day I would have one in the same style. This is the result.

After a Lambretta Rally Master replica next.

Series 2 is a nicer scoot, in my opinion, and that one of yours is one of the nicest I've seen in a while

Wil you buy the Rally Master as a project or the finished article? I'd love a GS, but currently haven't the dosh to buy anything other than a project. Would be a big undertaking, as I'm not that mechanically minded. Maybe one day!!

I have had a price from DiscoDez to do it for me. I will just supply a Series 2 (non runner). I've done projects in the past and to be honest I haven't the time anymore. Not had to the Series 2 in the picture above but even the little I had to do was too much with having two kids and business to run.

The badge on your legshields (gold one) indicates its a British registered bike, not an import (like mine).

I lived in Leeds for 15 years but recently moved to Hull. Cord was the barbers I used. Graham the owner is a good lad (moaning sod though) and Gaz who works there is a massive northern soul fan. Cool barbers, one of the places I really miss. Always good for Leeds based gossip in there.

Obviously all made in Italy but the gold badge should indicate it was first registered in this country and not imported years later.

That said my mate has a recently imported Lambretta and he likes the badge so has one on his anyway.

Aye, that was the most important part for me when looking - born in Italy. A friend of mine had an SX with the shield-shaped St. George Cross badge which was imported. All I knew about it before this exchange was St. George was linked to Milan via the Roman Empire. It's an education, this scootering lark.

Gonzo - Cheers! I knew as soon as I saw it in person I had to have it. Now to get to grips with it!

Slow of course but it was really the classic Vespa weight on one side problem but worse and with those 8" wheels and wide bars and light front end I just wasn't a fan. Can you tell?
Lambrettas of the same era were just a much better balanced machine IMO.  Vespa of course caught up in a big way later on and I think the Vespa engine is probably one of the greatest engine designs of all time. ( starter motor from a plane I think?).

Yeah, that's what I've heard as well. A petrol head I work with watched a documentary on Vespas, seems some bright spark engineer towards the arse-end of WWII thought it would be a good idea to power a cheap 2-wheeled vehicle using the motors they started the planes with. The rest is history...

Yes , Piaggio built aircraft during the war and still do so today. .
I think there is something aircraft like about that model with it's smooth curves and lines. .

It stands to reason the Lambretta was always a better balanced machine tho', that longer wheelbase took a bit of getting used to for a Vespa driver like myself. . 8)

Well, It took 4.5 years, due to a painter who took 2 years to paint it, and an engine rebuilder who had trouble sourcing parts.... but here it is:

And yes, I'll take the plastic off the seat as soon as I dial it in  ;D !

Not posted in a long while, and only just found out how to upload images (I hope!!), so here goes.

Just acquired this little beaut about 3 weeks ago. Had to wait until Saturday to complete my CBT before me and a couple of mates were able to go out yesterday for a runout.

Thanks Simon,

The SX is my favourite scooter too, unfortunately mine is only an Li125 Special that's been restored to look like an SX200.

One day, maybe.....

If you're referring to mine, thanks Trotsky.

It's taken me a while to get one to the standard I wanted, but I'm very pleased.

(If you're referring Mike's above, I'd obviously agree and shy away from this post a little embarrassed  :-[)

Don't worry Chilli I was referring to yours but Mikes is a beauty too. You both have a great eye for elegance.

I'm normally a Vespa man but I reckon I could be turned......
