Post by: Richard Shimmy on July 28, 2013, 06:44:59 AM
Sorry if there is already a thread on this, I couldn't find one!

Feel free to post your spins in here.

I played at the inaugural Reggae Got Soul Newcastle (Australia) weekender and this was my Friday set.

Jimmy Reed - Shame, Shame, Shame (Stateside)
Tommy Tucker - Hi-Heel Sneakers (Checker)
Eden Kane - A New Kind of Lovin' (Decca)
Johnny Guitar Watson - Broke and Lonely (King)
The megatrons - Shimmy, Shimmy Walk (Checker)
The Del-Knights - Everybody Popeye
Bob & Earl - Oh Baby Doll (Tempe)
Leon Austin - Two Sided Love (King)
Vicki Anderson & James Brown - Think (King)
Rodger Collins - She's Looking Good (vocalion)
Mitty Collier - Get Out (Chess)
Little Milton - Grits Ain't Groceries (Checker)
The Monkees - Mary, Mary (RCA)
Geno Washington - (I Gotta) Hold On to My Love (Piccadilly)
The Kinks - Come On Now (Pye)
The Yardbirds - For Your Love

Not a set for the purists by any stretch, but the crowd haven't had much exposure to this kind of stuff before!

nice set Richard!

Cheers, many thanks.
The motive behind posting this was to try and get some of the more regular club DJ's to post up some of their set-lists.
Let's face it, we all love lists, especially when it comes to records being played out.

Some favourites of mine in your sets, Neil, between them "Can't help thinking about me" (a mod statement if there ever was one  ;D ), "Them blues", "Harlem library" (hey, Kenny Lynch's awfully underrated), "Stomach ache" or "East side story" to name a few.

I was going to stick a playlist up for Saturday in Leeds at 'Gettin To The Point'.

Unfortunately my box seems to all over the place with 45s in the wrong sleeves etc. My usual system of placing the 45 at a different angle at the front has not worked. I also have no memory whatsoever of anything after 12:30am so cant recall my third set. As my first set was 12 hours earlier and my second set was around 9:45 when the beer was starting to flow I have no real recollection of them either.

Am going to ignore the little "incident" on Saturday night and not let it ruin the memory of what was a great weekend. I think by then I had enough and decided to call it a night not long afterwards. Will put it down to a misunderstanding and maybe too much beer.
