Title: 'Comedy mods' on Twitter
Post by: babyshambler on September 13, 2013, 05:47:38 PM
A new account dedicated to the 'comedy mod' (a phrase I first read on here..) - essentially people who identify as mods, but tend to look a little bit fancy dress and settle for the obvious. A bit of fun or elitist snobbery of the worst kind?

Came across this on twitter earlier - seems to me someone has got too much time on their hands going out of their way to make a mockery of others. Yes the people in the photos don't look the part but in knowing so, wouldn't you just leave it at that and carry on doing what you're doing? As was posted on the comedy mods facebook thread on here, would be interesting to see how well turned out the brains behind the page are.

I just think these kind of pages are run by people that are insecure with themselves and to deflect attention from them have to point and laugh at others to make themselves feel better, seems pretty pathetic to me.

ater having another quick look, have to say its a complete joke. the person behind the account should be ashamed. the pictures he's tweeted are needless attacks on fellas not even trying to come across as 'mod' in those tweets he's attacked. im actually kinda pissed off! dont care how stupid they look its immature and uncalled for

Apparently a biker is behind it all. What makes it worse is there are mods tweeting it with accounts of "comedy mods". The majority of which are about 16. The guy blatantly has too much time on his hands.

Leave them to it, I don't even know why people are entertaining the idea of it.

How about setting a site for comedy bikers then?
I'll start...

I was in Scarborough last weekend and a woman went past us about 3 times in 20 minutes on a similar looking machine to that, playing the same Brian Adams song over and over again. It was painful.

Ahhhhh... the "magic" of Social Media... where anyone with an and internet connection and a axe to grind can start a Facebook page, or a Twitter account.
One of the main  reasons I've never "Facebooked" or "Twitted"!

They (social mods) followed me a while back so I took a look on their page but found them to be a bit child-like as you say. Seem to draw on anything big or small that is in some way mod-related just for a bit of attention - far too petty for me to bother with.

Don't really want this forum to be a place to fad mouth other places, social networks etc.

Bottom line, don't follow them. It's that easy.

I've never heard of these things and I wouldn't follow anyone or anything that made a point of running others down. I've got a limited amount of time and a wide range of interests. I could never find time to go slagging off others here or anywhere else. Amazed others do.

Quite right.

There's nothing really on that 'social mods' page that would interest anyone over the age of 20 either, really. It's just kids calling each other posers and fakes. Goes on in every 'scene' and I did it when I was a teen. Kids will be kids, I'm just glad there wasn't as much social media around to embarrass myself on  8)

Absolutely not. It's Facebookered and Tweetered.
Hope this clears things up.
