Title: MONKEY PICKS OF 2013
Post by: Monkey on December 16, 2013, 05:11:25 PM
I've cobbled together a selection of tunes from 2013. Was trying to narrow it down to 20 but couldn't quite make it so there are two bonus tracks.

Many have a hint - at least - of a 60s influence without being remotely "mod" (which is generally how I like things).

Here's a link if you fancy a listen.

Thanks - Some great stuff by bands I've never heard of (or some I didn't know still existed/reformed).

Cool, glad there was something you enjoyed J-M.

As always, soon as I'd done it I remembered things I should've included like Electric Soft Parade - dunno why, played their LP loads - and hadn't as yet heard like albums by Wooden Shjips and The Pastels (who fit into the "still existing" category).

Thought I'd post this here,

For any of you Curtis Mayfield fans out there Monkey has recorded an interview with the man that was put out on Jazz FM with Paul Jones before his last gig here in 1990.

Thanks Monkey,it was well worth an hour of my time! :)

Listened to this at work today and, as you said, an hour well spent.
Also listened to a couple the Peter Young's Soul Cellar shows which Monkey has put up on Mixcloud; these shows, from the 80s are excellent.

That interview is a lovely hour in the company of Curtis (such a beautiful soul) and a very well informed fan/presenter in Paul Jones.

The Soul Cellar shows are excellent, too, found a load of new-to-me stuff on there  8)
