Certainly aware of the heritage with some of our musical heroes such as Pete and Macca donning them. However they wore them as a sort of kick back against the fluffy, frilly psychedelia of a year or so previous. Trying to 'keep it real' again sort of thing. There is of course photo evidence of many a Skin or Suedie adopting them too but for me you have to be a spot on dressed young kid to get away with it. Anyone beyond 30, and certainly what I understand is our age group here, should really avoid at all costs in my opinion for fear of the Val Doonican, Frank Spencer, 'Grandad' type of look. But whatever you fancy of course down to the individual.

I was really sad to hear this last night. Saw The Buzzcocks a few times as a lad and then revisited them over the last few years as a live act. Total class. A string of great singles and some decent albums too. Not going to see the like again sadly I feel. Pete was a funny fella too and a great, if unlikely, front man. He and Steve were a legendary duo.

Love The Manfreds. Saw them with Fame a few weeks back too. Never fail to please the crowds with all the hits. They always have some great 'old pals' with them. PP Arnold and Zoot Money last time. Chris Farlowe another time too. Paul is a consummate front man of his age with anecdotes and charm but when he lets rip on that harmonica he is like a kid again. Glad you enjoyed it fella.

Agree 100% the clothes and 'Barnet' discussion is peripheral in many respects. When it comes down to it, given the right material the fella is still off the charts good. Certainly the last tour, and of late, when he selects some choice back catalogue songs along with new material the audience is always onto a winner. The recent BBC gig gives a sort of snap shot of that.

Veering off topic I know but I saw a photo of Charlie recently looks to have been taken in the Summer and the fella looks bang on still. Beautiful, what looks like Madras, shirt, Chino type trousers and loafers too as I recall. Back to Mr W! I was vaguely in his company some months back at an event and he actually mentioned how much he loved being a Mod still so he clearly considers himself to be of that ilk. He has never made any bones about it but it was interesting all the same.

Great shot mate. Of course the question then posed is "Was Jagger a Mod??" Certainly not a question I am asking or answering. The Eyes had a number of publicity shots done wearing rugby shirts too of course.

The sad irony of Weller trying to go 'against the grain' of what many perceive as a standard 'Mod' look to create a unique style of his own always unfortunately back fires on him. No doubt in coming months at gigs and events there will be a slew of rugby shirts and white Converse. I often wonder what he asks for when he goes to the barbers too !! (Think about it)

Nice one mate. They sometimes come up on eBay too so that's worth a look. Glad it fits too.

For me GRAVITY and MAY LOVE TRAVEL WITH YOU are the stand outs on the new Weller album but there is a generally nice feel to the whole thing. To be honest probably preferred SATURNS PATTERNS but not much to fault it over all.
