Very much enjoyed that.  Looking (hopefully) forward to another series.

Does anyone know what type Jump the Gun suits are?

I dont know if there constructed the same but Adam of London suits are half canvassed I believe.

Edit: most so-called designer suits 2 or 3 times the price of JTG and AoL are fused. If someone has that cash to spend why not go bespoke??  Convenience and ignorance I suppose.

Mod fashion and style / Re: Tailored Shorts: recommendations?

I picked up some Fred Perry City Shorts last year, but returned them as they were a bit too short for my liking.  I wish I'd kept them now as they were very nice quality compared to most shorts on the market and they've been relaunched this year with some slight changes, a Wiggo tie-in and a price hike.

Again not a favourite but an interesting sample - Rizzle Kicks 'Dreamers' which samples Nirvana (UK) 'Rainbow Chaser'

Sensateria 'Give Me My Auger Back' which mashes up Brian Auger (?) and Shocking Blue's 'Send me a Postcard' - typical mid 90's Big Beat

I quite liked this "back in the day" - Soho's 'Hippychick' sampled 'How Soon is Now'

More Big Beat, I quite liked this one as well - Soul Hooligan 'Sweet Pea' with 'I'm on my Way' and the ubiquitous 'The Champ'

London the biography by Peter Ackroyd, he's good at presenting the town as a living organism but the book is too heavy for the daily commute so I've also got old music magazines (Mojo etc) that have been lying around in drawers for years.

If you're interested in London history then I can definitely recommend 'London in the Nineteenth Century' by Jerry White.  He's also written London in the Twentieth Century which I've yet got around to reading.

^^ I'll have to look out for 'Konga'...not seen that before!

I've always been a fan of the French New Wave, Godard, Chabrol etc.  Recently I saw a couple of newer French films that are well worth watching:

'Mesrine: Killer Instinct' and 'Mesrine: Public Enemy No 1'.   The film is split over 2 parts and charts the story of a notorious French gangster through the 60s and 70s.  Recommended for fans of gangster/crime films (if you're OK with subtitles) and very funny in a dark way.  I was surprised to hear the Mickey Finn's 'Garden of my Mind' at one point in the soundtrack during a car chase.

OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies.  I've been meaning to watch this for a while, it's a kind of Bond/Spy spoof, though more subtle than, say, Austin Powers.  Somewhat surprisingly (?) most of the humour translates well to a British sensibility.  It's supposed to be set in 1955 and there are some nice period details/clothing although the styling looks more late 50's/early 60's to me.  There is a big anachronistic howler in a scene with a scooter in the background, I won't say what it is, it'll be interesting to see if anybody else has seen it!  There's a sequel to the film that i haven't seen but plan on doing so soon.

Mod in the media / Re: Mojo June 2013 Rod The Mod article

Maybe it's just Mojo's attempt to jump on the Mod bandwagon as it seems every newspaper/magazine/periodical/online mag, etc these days had something with 'Mod' in the title... But I haven't checked it out myself.. will borrow my friends once he's done.

To be fair Mojo has for a long time had 'Mod-themed' CDs, some worked better than others (Heavy Mod anyone?).  I haven't bought an issue for a fair while but Lois Wilson's features were/are always worth reading IMO.
