Banter / Dublin
« on: November 23, 2017, 02:20:48 PM »
I'll be in Dublin first week of December, any shops or events worth checking out? Not really able to leave Dublin during that time, but will have a full day Saturday to leave the city if need be. Any ideas?

Mod fashion and style / Traveling in as much style as you can
« on: October 26, 2017, 10:41:14 PM »
When traveling across country or internationally,  it seems the restrictions and safety rules impede on personal style...i.e., safety razors, flying with liquids, the clothes you wear. As I have a bit if flying to do over the next few months, any suggestions on how to still be stylish when traveling these days?

General music chat / 9" turntable mat?
« on: July 11, 2017, 11:36:28 PM »
Having an issue with my home record player (1958 Motorola Stereophonic) with some 45's slipping on platter (plastic I'm guessing). Does anyone know a source or heard of a 9" slipmat? All I seem to run across are 11-12 inch...

Films / TV / The Graduate re-release US
« on: April 11, 2017, 06:50:53 PM »
If there any fans of Ivy Style in the US here, they will be re-releasing "The Graduate" in the theaters this month....great movie but also worth watching for the clothes alone...

Mod fashion and style / Belts...
« on: March 21, 2017, 12:43:22 AM »
Anyone have a couple of suggestions for belts? I am fond of full buckles, but everywhere I look lately is either half buckles, or the belt is some kind of utilitarian security guard thick belt...if anyone has any online suggestions that they have had luck with, I'd love to hear it.

Mod fashion and style / 2017 resolutions?
« on: January 02, 2017, 03:19:24 PM »
Anyone given themselves any sartorial resolutions or goals for 2017?

I resolve to have/get at least 3 shirts/ties per jacket and to be more active on the forum.

Mod fashion and style / Brooks Brothers Poor Service
« on: October 28, 2016, 02:27:44 AM »
So, partially to vent and partially to see if others have had bad service with BB lately. I received a letter from Brooks the other day (name misspelled "Bryian"), and inside was two discount cards for 40% off (one for men's, other for women's) I thought "great", then I noticed they were only good between the 15th and the 24th...I got them ON the 24th. Ok, no biggie, but I thought I would email them and give them a heads up that this happened. I got an email form their customer service saying they recognize the issue (never used the word "sorry"), and they would extend the offer until midnight of the 27th...they sent me the email at 9pm ON THE 27th! The letter then said that if there was any issue to just reference the customer service agents name....she only used her first name. So am I really expected to call them and say a first name person said to give me 40%? Really not impressed...just another nail in the coffin for Brooks...or maybe I am just typing angry.

Scoots and scootering / 1963 GS160
« on: October 19, 2016, 03:10:57 PM »
So, I have a 1963 GS160 that I started to restore and just got sidetracked with too many things to list here. I am getting to the point of having some more free time and really need to finish this. I thought that I might post the project on here and update with pictures and notes as the restoration goes on......would anyone be interested in this or should I just shut up, restore it, then post a picture when done?

Mod fashion and style / Baracuta advice
« on: September 02, 2016, 03:50:08 PM »
Hello everyone, hoping to get some insight here....looking to get a G9 for fall/winter and I had three questions;

1. sizing- I normally wear a 40" chest in suits, so looking at their size guide I would make this a 42Uk chest? Anyone own one in this size?
2. cost - Is there a best time to buy? No sure if there's much fluctuation in the pricing at all.
3. alternative - I know John Simons did a version as well as DNA, but I believe the JS was labeled as a little baggy and the DNA's aren't available in my size at the moment. Any others?

Thanks for the help

Thinking of making some room in my closet and I have a late 60's/early 70's Hardy Amies jacket in a silver/blue with no vents and ticket marked about a 40" well as a pair of silver sharkskin DNA Bruno trousers 36"....if anyone is interested I can take some pictures and we can work out a price.....also, I have a vintage blue blazer with brass buttons....more like a 38-39 chest....
