Looking for some suggestions on swimwear. Like the look of some of Orlebar Browns stuff, just not sure on the price tag...anything out there similar or with somewhat mod aesthetics?

Mod fashion and style / American in London (1956)
« on: May 19, 2019, 08:02:08 PM »
Was given some letters my dad wrote home when he lived in England in the 50's and there were some interesting ones that are very specific on clothes, guess my dad was having trouble finding what he wanted at the time (1956), in writing he mentions "All the shirts here are the old-fashioned type with removable collars", ...and goes on to discuss getting his new topcoat from the tailors. He writes quite a bit to my aunt requesting shirts " 15"x35" and with button down tab collars and french cuffs if possible. I would like to have them in a slight stripe or light pastel or just plain white."  another letter says "On those shirts, they must repeat must have 35" sleeve lengths, 15" neck, french cuffs, button down collars or pin collars (preferrably pin collars) and they can be pastel, white or pinstripe and made of broadcloth or just plain cotton."  He doesn't mention the tailors name, but he mentions getting his "three button suit out from the tailors" and having labels insdie that say tailored especially for father like son I guess :)

Scoots and scootering / Lambretta carb alternatives?
« on: September 12, 2018, 06:10:31 PM »
Helping a friend with his li with 200 engine, and the carb is a jetex,  which seems to be junk. As it's been awhile since I have ordered parts, it looks like the choices aren't as good as they used to be. Any recommendations on a decent carb that can be mounted with little fuss that won't break the bank,?

Fashion for sale or wanted / 2 suits for sale/trade
« on: July 18, 2018, 01:33:25 AM »
Two suits up for sale or trade;

1. Custom suit made Hong Kong in 1968, brilliant blacking green sharkskin, three buttons etc...about a 40Reg
2. Vintage DB suit with about a 2-3 inch crossover in a dark grey with subtle check pattern. Trousers on this one are great, with slanted inset front pockets, 1inch square belt loops, and a belt holder. Has a small repair, but was so well done, it took me a couple of months to even notice it. about a 39 Reg.

old age and a bigger waistline have caught up with me, so looking to rehome them. If anyone is interested I can take some pics and post them here. Not looking to make a fortune off them, just recoup a little and make sure they go to other like minded forum members. Will also take complete measurements if any bites

I'll be in Dublin first week of December, any shops or events worth checking out? Not really able to leave Dublin during that time, but will have a full day Saturday to leave the city if need be. Any ideas?

Mod fashion and style / Traveling in as much style as you can
« on: October 26, 2017, 10:41:14 PM »
When traveling across country or internationally,  it seems the restrictions and safety rules impede on personal style...i.e., safety razors, flying with liquids, the clothes you wear. As I have a bit if flying to do over the next few months, any suggestions on how to still be stylish when traveling these days?

General music chat / 9" turntable mat?
« on: July 11, 2017, 11:36:28 PM »
Having an issue with my home record player (1958 Motorola Stereophonic) with some 45's slipping on platter (plastic I'm guessing). Does anyone know a source or heard of a 9" slipmat? All I seem to run across are 11-12 inch...
