Mod fashion and style / Modfather shop
« on: June 14, 2019, 08:20:17 AM »
I decided to check out the Modfather shop in Camden (London) with their new line of shirts as the main target. I'd been a few years ago when they were in their old unit. I found a nicely set out shop, very friendly owner, good range of gear and their range of shirts rather fetching. I bought the Aquamarine Navy / White Check one and the trojan https://modfatherclothing.com/collections/mens-shirts/products/trojan-records-chocolate-check-button-down-shirt.

Mod fashion and style / Curling up collars on polo shirts

I like the look of a polo but never wear them because the collars always curl up.
What do people do about this and is there a cure?

Mod fashion and style / Dior exhibition at the V&A
« on: May 07, 2019, 03:07:23 PM »
My girlfriend took me to the Dior exhibition on Sunday (https://www.vam.ac.uk/exhibitions/dior-designer-of-dreams) and I had a mooch around. It was mainly all about haute couture and lots of the dresses were a bit over the top but there were some gems.

General music chat / Strange places you hear excellent music
« on: March 29, 2019, 03:43:04 PM »
So I was in bed having breakfast and watching BBC breakfast this morning when they have a bit on brexit. 3 leavers talking to 3 remainers. But the music playing throughout was Lee Morgan 'The Sidewinder' - one of my favourite jazz tunes ever. If only they had stopped talking and turned up the volume!

I wondered if anyone else hears good music in strange places?

Films / TV / Nigellissima
« on: March 28, 2019, 04:42:51 PM »
So I was chilling at the end of a hard day, getting ready to mark books and wanted something gentle to calm myself. I picked Nigella Lawson on iplayer just because she's a goddess and I like her cooking style. But the soundtrack is full of excellent jazz. If you only have it on for the sound it's well worth it.

Mod fashion and style / Mod things I've never worn
« on: April 30, 2018, 04:08:10 PM »
I was looking in my wardrobe at my clothes and shoes the other day and I realised that there are some Mod classics I have never owned or worn. Bowling shoes (including the famous Jam shoes), desert boots and Paisley patterned shirts for example.

I wondered what other Mod fashions have passed you by?

Mod fashion and style / Frog mouth pockets on off the peg trousers?
« on: January 23, 2018, 03:49:25 PM »
I'm after some trousers for work (office type work) with frog mouth pockets as I hate the elephant ear look of normal pockets. So far I only know of Farah (but 100% man-made) or Jump the Gun sta prest (sizes don't quite fit me).

Does anyone know of any other supplier?

PS Yes Rod I know you hate them  :)

Mod fashion and style / Day bags
« on: January 13, 2018, 08:43:11 PM »
I like to have a small bag with me when I'm out and about to carry a water bottle, snacks or a light jacket. I've been using a black North Face Electra daypack (12l capacity). It's about to die unfortunately and I'm looking for a replacement which is both functional and looks good.
Any tips?
