Thought I'd make this a sticky so it doesn't disappear... so come on DJ's, lets see what you're all spinning, whatever the style.

I'll put some up myself when I get chance!

The Heavy Soul label has been going for nearly seven years and so far released 47 7"s and CDs, mainly vinyl though as it is the better option.....

That's an impressive amount! A mate and me have been kicking around the idea of starting a record label for some time, should be getting something going hopefully before the year is out.  :)
DO IT!!
The more the merrier - good luck getting any help from anywhere though - I always run into brick walls when asking for people to help promote new music that will appeal to the Mod crowd - really don't understand it!

Well to be honest, it wouldn't be aimed at mods specifically, it would be a funk label mostly, along the lines of Record Kicks, Freestyle, Colemine etc. I'm going to send you a PM on Facebook and ask you a few questions if you don't mind?  :)

Somewhere buried deep in my collection I've got a couple of 45s of his on Daptone. Nothing particularly standout about them as I recall, probably why they are buried. Didn't see the Jools Holland program, read somewhere else it was a bit poor though.

Nice bike Steve, although I prefer the earlier 750 SS to be honest.

General music chat / Re: 45s You've recently bought

Barbara Lynn, I'm a good woman (tribe ) was my last buy . Allways packs the dance floor !

Recent debate about this on soul source, comparing it to the cold blood version. Most preferred Barbara Lynn ... although one or two went for cold blood which is my favourite. It's a "banger". I've got both.

I like both equally. Haven't got the Cold Blood one though. No surprises that the SS lot went for Barbara Lynn.

As for 45s being bought recently... mostly modern funk 45s, Third Coast Kings, Bamboos, Quantic etc. Got a new club night started playing funk, old school hip hop and all sorts of breaky beaty stuff. Not that I need any more tunes to do it... but you know how it is.  ;) ;)

You all know me from the old forum as Boogaloo Tramp. So in order not to confuse matters (and myself) i decided to stick with that name.

Great to see the best forum back!  :D
