IMO this new one from Pretty Green is quite nice. Sometimes button-through polo type cardigans are very loud, in a "yardie cardie" or "rat pack" or "small faces" way, which I think look great, but maybe not for me. Then there are ones that are very plain , single colour, so a bit too restrained . This one is a bit more mid-way, a bit of piping , but not too much

One way to get "Retro" looking watches for almost nothing is the "Eagle Moss Military Watch Collection". It was one of those "First issue half price magazine with a collectable watch" things which the full subscription ends up costing hundreds of pounds. The watches look nice from a distance, but are very lightweight etc up close

They often appear on Ebay at 4-99 a pop too !

The "Military Watch Co" also do some quite nice traditional analogue watches with a smaller face (About the same size I think as the Timex Marlin)   - their reproduction "Vietnam " watch goes for about 35 new on ebay -you can get it in black as well as the traditional green, and put it on a nice "James Bond" or similar stripey Nato strap. Their "MWC G10" is similar, but with a date, and goes for about 70

Those all look lovely,  but can cheap watches ever  be ok in Modcultureworld ? I just have one of these Lorus lumibrite watches (they have quite a small face -I find a lot of contemporary watches with a traditional face are enormous)  , but on a blue and white stripey Nato strap .

My ten pence is that For knitted  polos - like the John Smedley "Sea Island" cotton ones there are Smedley themselves , which are very lovely but I  (a) a bit expensive and (b) such fine cotton that they are a bit unforgiving if you are not the slim young person you used to be.

There are now a fair few  lower price (less fancy quality)  alternatives, but the main problem is the "high street" ones often have very small collars.

Peter Werth do a nice plain knitted cotton Smedley-ish one, imo

The Ben Sherman long sleeve plain knit cotton polo is ok-ish I guess

There are quite a few "Merino Wool" long sleeve polos around, but they are not right for this weather (the Uniqlo wool  ones are v.good quality for the price)

For long sleeve "Pique" polos (ie made from the kind of "Fred Perry Polo Shirt" material) - that's a different matter

They did also do a different, nice-but-non-monkey-jacket  towelling jacket on a re-issue for those with a towelling perversion.

Jigsaw do a similar jacket but in blue [ftp][/ftp]

Orlebar Brown have done various twrry towelling jackets, including quite monkey-jacket-ish ones, but they cost a squillion pounds, like all Orlebar Brown stuff

Dna Groove i`m L, Art Gallery i`m L but M for polos, Adam Of London 16, RSAR L, Brooks Brothers M and John Simons M

Adam Of London`s tab collar shirts are ace.

Thanks Ematt, for these useful rules of thumb (or rules of neck & chest) - some sizing sounding quite familiar :)

The Adam of London Tab Collar Shirts also seem to have quite a full collar -they look quite nice, but I haven't seen one in real life  - they say they are "extremely fitted"   - does anyone have an idea how extremely ? I'm guessing a bit less super-tight than the Jump the Gun ones, but IDK for sure

There is something not quite right about that Shawnmen website though , that makes me think it is a bit scam-y -no location, no real explanation who they are .
