Great Sheepskin! Avalon used to be a firm based near Street in Somerset I think that made fantastic sheepskin coats, gloves etc. I think they closed in the 80's. I inherited one from my grandfather when he passed away in 82, but unfortunately it was too small for me and I had to give it to a charity shop.

Thanks for that , Steve. .
Yes indeed, they seemed to be in Somerset , the label says Glastonbury . It is very warm and ideal for these winter climes . . 8)

Thanks for the heads up on these Greenstreet.

I already have a couple of pairs of Orlebar Browns, so my 'James Bond at the beach' kit is on point, but I had a snoop on the J Crew website just for the hell of it and snagged these for $21 including sales tax and shipping. Bargain!

You're welcome Rod, but be careful: my shorts arrived last week and I was horrified when I discovered the c**ts had sent me the wrong ones: size & color as expected, but they were some kind of surf board shorts with a white lace for closure  :o. Besides, they were huge! The 30" waist size is at least a 32". So they're going back; that's it, if I can get any reply from their consumer service  >:(  Hope you're luckier, mate.

Not good , Sidney. .

Mail order is great , when it works right . .

Know what I love about this site, the contrast in styles. I.e.me and Leer two completely different styles and yet it all fits within the 'mod' realms in some way. As I get older I think the main thing is to just look smart and presentable, whilst keeping an eye on retrospective styles/ideology

Yes , Steve , as we get older it is more of an attitude . Personally , when I'm out and about , people still look at me so I do tend to dress different from the masses and every now and then I'll see someone who looks a bit like a Suedehead and we give each other a nod. .

Good advice from Simon about the thicker sock... from the photo of the boot on the website, the leather looks like it needs breaking in... The Docs I posted about are the real hard leather DM's and they're still breaking in...

Are they the MiC Docs , Mike? I bought the Solovairs from Adam , wore them in the house for a couple of days and now they seem fine. .
Yeah Simon they're the Docs, (Made in Thailand) but it's the leather... that really stiff leather my old, old 1460's were...
Wore those things everyday for 2-3 years... never broke that leather!

I have a pair of the 1461 shoes that took a long time to break in (MiC), Mike . A colleague got a pair , also . he kept his old pair in the car for a couple of weeks so he could change back when required. Certainly with these numbers , the soles are knackered long before the uppers show any sign of wear. . ::)
