Hello everyone,

been looking around a bit on Instagram and came across quite a few pictures from pubs and restaurants which made me wonder - are there any mod criteria for picking a favourite cafe/pub and what are they? I suppose if you have something like Bar Italia/Pellicci/Dublin Castle at walking distance it might be easy but if not? Do you go by decor? History? Jukebox? If they play music you don´t like would you leave and never come back?
Would be interesting to hear what your thoughts are (not much choice where I live so I take what´s offered but always interested in finding new places when on holiday).

It's funny, cos a similar subject has popped up recently in a FB group I'm into. TBH I don't know what would be "a mod criteria", but I know some nice places that have been decorated or refurbished with that mid-century coffe bar vibe in mind, 2 in my town and another one in Pamplona (maybe I've posted pics of these places here, but I'm not sure now). I know for a fact Madrid and Barcelona have their fair share of retro-looking bars, but I'll leave that for people who know them first-hand (Crawdaddy, I'm talking about you!):

The restaurant of Valencia's Marina Beach Club:

Also here, the Congo bar, an original cafetería of the 50s that was redecorated in the same style some years ago:

And two pics from my favourite, Pamplona's Moka bar, also refurbished to look like it was in the 60s:

I've spent quite some time in the Moka with good friends, a place where you can also taste some delightful "pintxos".

No exactly packed oot tho'.

To be pedantic, Sean isn't the owner, he just works there. The owners are Mario and his son Dan. Both top guys as well.

Aye but whit team dae they support?

Louder than what I'd usually wear but on sale so thought I'd give it a whirl.

The design ,the collar and the pocket logo ,  nothing going for that shirt ,sorry .

Starting to understand why it was on sale now hahah.

Hasn't turned up yet but might be making a swift return back...

Send the shirt back, keep the tattoos.

One for our London based posters (or those passing through....)

Vintage Tony is a new stall in Wood St Market, the indoor market just off Walthamstow

It's run by a familiar face on London's Mod / Northern scene, and he's selling off the bulk of his clothing collection - knits, jackets, shoes, you name it

Tonnes of DNA Groove items, some really nice Fred Perry archive stuff, all reasonably priced - I got a pair of black Bass Weejun tassled loafers for £35

Would definitely recommend!

Is he a big bruiser or a wee smout?
