Now this was controversial months ago and I guess it'll still be, but to me it's an absolutely gorgeous piece of clobber: Made in Italy, Doppiaa cotton polo with diamond pattern. I was obsessed with the brown one (did you get that finally, Adam?) but it was sold out in my size when they were reduced; anyway, I can't complain about this blue one, fits me like a glove and it was just 70 from original 140 or so price tag!

Very nice and yes I did get the Brown one. Doesn't look like I'll get a chance to wear it very soon unfortunately. Well done on the Blue one.

Beams one is nice although half an inch off the lapel would help.

Adam, I think it has to do with the Ivy League mandatory 3-roll-2 stance, lapels on that would look narrower with the top button done, I reckon.

I don't mind the lapel width on the top one, I've been noticing that the trend in the Euro houses now are 70's era W-I-D-E lapels. The Boater though is a solid NO. too busy, pockets are a mess and the material looks wrinkled, probably a heavy twill or something that'll be permanently wrinkled...
IF, I was in the market for one:

Totally agree on the Boater Mike.  I hadn't noticed the top button on the Beams one. I think it's purely for show with that lapel by the looks of it. With the 3-Roll-2 stance you should still be able to button them all if you want and it still sit correctly, not sure if that will though? If it does then my apologies, it's very nice.  ;D

They look fine apart from those wonky pockets. Never been a fan of unmatched breast pocket and not cutting the placket on the bias is I suppose a cost saving but should be done IMO. Fit and cloth looks nice though.  ;)

Looking good.  Fit seems perfect.

And thank you Sydney for the kind comments I feel much better now... 8)

Navy Moleskin Jacket from JtG

Not miles away from this new Suitsupply field jacket, Mike, but I'm sure JtG's sensibly cheaper:

Colour is almost the same and they both have pockets.  I think we'll leave it there though  ;)

Upcoming mod events / Hipsville - May bank holiday

Not what you'd call a Mod event but certainly 60's.  Wild and crazy Garage psych madness the whole weekend. Everyone is there just to have a great time and dress up like a fool.  Always a blast.

TBH it's not far off on price.  A NICELY made trouser in the UK (more so in London) and Brisbane cloth (which we use a lot) and if made in short runs is going to be hard to keep under 130-150 and that's a push if you want to stay in business. 195 might be a tad strong but it's surprising how much stuff costs nowadays . I wouldn't pay that either though.

The other night at a party where the next best dressed man wore a t shirt and jeans.

More Italian beauties, this one below's screaming Capri circa 62:

Who makes that diamond one Sydney?

Italian brand Doppiaa, Adam; nice, huh (I was sure this one would be right up your alley  ;))?

Just available in Yoox, as far as I know, but it's way too pricey now to even consider buying it (for me at least); if you're patient and have some luck, you'll be grabbing it at half price in some months.

Thanks.  Certainly is my thing.  See what you mean about price but I might convince myself I need it as a cloth sample or something. See how the day pans out.  ;D

Good luck with that, Adam, truth is I've got some Doppiaa numbers and they're quality. Report on that if you finally grab it, please, I'm interested.
Shall do.  Looks like they come up quite small from the sizing chart. Full report if I go for it.
