Welcome, RM  :). Not exactly a newbie myself, but I guess I'd do a lousy job in a b-sides discussion!

Welcome aboard mate. Generally no one here is too judgmental and all parties I interact with seem on the level OK lads so you'll be alright. Nothing wrong with being fully immersed in a 'scene' or whether you dip in whenever to the aspects that attract you either mate just get involved as you feel.

A warm welcome to all the new members - it's great to see new life being breathed into the forum!

Hello everyone,

very happy to be here - I have been lurking here for quite a while but can finally join myself. I am approaching 50 and live in a smallish village. I was surrounded by revival mods in school but was never one myself although I liked a lot of the music, have been drifting more towards the whole thing as the years have gone by. Im still a complete newbie so cant take part in intricate discussions about various B-sides. Since I was a teenager with no affiliations I have never labelled myself a mod and it feels a bit late to start doing that now, also I live far away from any sixties action so I can only observe it from the sidelines. Hope to be able to contribute something to the discussions anyway.

I like this, so what do you like listening to and wearing roundmidnight2?

Hello Steve,

I havent really followed what happened in music lately Im afraid so my tastes got stuck about 10-15 years ago. I like Weller including his newer more out there material - I never really clicked with the aggression of punk so Im more into what hes doing now than his work with The Jam although there were some amazing songs back then. A lot of the artists from The Britpop era I find really good - Blur, Pulp (very clever stuff!), Supergrass (very clever as well and Run is a fantastic piece of Beatles/Floyd-like writing), Echobelly and various other. Last thing I listened to on the player was Richard Hawley. Ive taken down some names from various mod podcasts that I got to check out - i dont really buy albums at the moment since the shelves are nearly full and the wallet empty but streaming is great.
Older music are the usual suspects - Beatles, Who, sixties pop/rock more than soul. Im very fond of The Move, both the earlier singles and the later more album orientated stuff. I listen to some jazz and classical music as well.
Clothes wise I dress more like Oasis than Small Faces - the untucked shirt and trousers look but when I wear things from DNA or other "mod-friendly" labels I often get compliments so that seems to be a look which appeals to people outside The Cult as well. I recently bought a paisley shirt that looks like something out of a psychedelic nightmare but I like loud stuff, Im not a great talker so that might make up for it.
