Yes, there's some amazing stuff to be found on them.  They're the only LPs I collect.  I've become a bit of an obsessive over the last 20 years or so  ;)

Can you recommend a good starting point?

mdw1981, sorry for taking this off-topic, I know this should be discussed in the music area of forum.  will let you know when the next Eclectic Mud night is on as soon as it's booked :)

Can you recommend a good starting point?

quality starter blocks are Vols1-4 of the Blow Up comps (deWolfe, KPM, Chappell etc)
http://www.blowup.co.uk/records/compilations all the classics :)

also Bite Hard & Bite Harder (both deWolfe)
http://www.discogs.com/Various-Bite-Hard-The-Music-Of-De-Wolfe-Studio-Sampler-1972-80/release/419841
http://www.discogs.com/Various-Bite-Harder-The-Music-De-Wolfe-Studio-Sampler-Volume-2/release/2002255

Music For Dancefloors series:
KPM http://www.discogs.com/Various-Music-For-Dancefloors-The-Cream-Of-The-KPM-Music-Green-Label-Sessions/release/1195161
Chappell http://www.discogs.com/Various-Music-For-Dancefloors-The-Cream-Of-The-Chappell-Music-Library-Sessions/release/686505
Bosworth http://www.discogs.com/Various-Music-For-Dancefloors-The-Cream-Of-The-Bosworth-Library-Sessions/release/174987

TummyTouch reissued a few of the big ticket KPM LPs a few years ago:
Big Beat http://www.discogs.com/Keith-Mansfield--Alan-Hawkshaw-The-Big-Beat/release/1119660
Big Beat 2 http://www.discogs.com/Alan-Moorhouse-The-Big-Beat-Volume-2/release/1121379
Afro Rock http://www.discogs.com/Alan-Parker-John-Cameron-Afro-Rock/release/1119665

some time on Google should turn up cheap copies of most of these :)

That's very kind, Col, but being in Belfast probably rules that out! However, you've given me loads to dig into, which may leave me no time for going out anyway!! Many thanks, much appreciated  8)
