Enjoying this at the moment. .

never puts a foot wrong and contains the larry Frasier tracks that are hard to find anywhere else. .

Can't see the pic, Simon.

Soho Scene '62 , Jazz Goes Mod -R&B Records

I've got the CD versión: lots of cool tunes, a great cover and liner notes too. Check out the last CD in the series, "Soho Scene '63", I'll receive it next week.

Great album from an effortlessly cool band, Mr B. Fairly frequent UK tourists, hoping they stray over this side of the Irish Sea at some point

Agreed.
Although I worry about their health as they always seem to be smoking, drinking or both in the photos I see of 'em.
If you ooze masculinity, like some of us do, you have no reason to fear pink.

The 63' CD arrived this morning and there's something for the mistake hunters out there. In fact, while B3 maestro Jack McDuff is pictured and even his name appears emphasized in the cover...

... he's nowhere to be seen in the back cover...

.. tho' he does appear in the LPs back cover tracklist...

That's what happens when you -the R&B guys in this case- keep the LP cover for the CD edition without a second thought/glance about it. A pity, as I ain't got the McDuff tune.

Oddities notwithstanding, the comp is terrific.

Heads up, power pop lovers, as US label Omnivore Recordings have reissued the late 70s comeback two Searchers' LPs in a neat CD package that includes some interesting bonus tracks.

The second-best ever Liverpool band were given a chance at boosting their career -then at a cabaret low point- by US Sire Records and they jumped at it with gusto. In fact they didn't hit the big time again, but left us 2 albums that shine among the best power-pop artifacts of the era, with damn fine covers of "Hearts in her eyes" or "September gurls", among other delights. I remember listening to the albums when they first came out in friend's houses, but I never had the chance to buy them.

Having been long out of print the original albums, this reissue fills an unfair gap with fine sound and liner notes:

Señor Calleverde:

That Searchers re-issue was given a glowing review in Shindig!

I'm a bit miffed that the SOHO jazz series is now being issued on CD with loads of extra tracks.  I bought them on vinyl and I feel a bit cheated!   >:(
On the jazz front there's the upcoming comp Martin Freeman And Eddie Piller Present Jazz On The Corner.  Both CD and vinyl have same track listing  ;D
And will you shorten the sleeves, love? I'm not a gorilla.
