The book had its launch on Friday 14th and I've just had an e mail, saying my orders on its way. Looking forward to this book as the man was so instrumental in the early Mod scene.
It's a shame he died so young as his take on the Mod Revival would have been interesting.

Yeah I have my eye on this too. Meaden is a bit of an enigma. Heralded by some as one of the Ace Faces about Soho in the early 1960s and by others a guy who missed opportunities and ultimately self-destructed. I am looking forward to this book and seeing what myths it dispels and what truths have been unearthed for good or bad. Will try and buy before but at worst will get one at the next MOD LITERARY EVENT which this time is WHO-centric. Pretty keen to find out more about the guy.

I noticed the blurb for the book said it features quotes from Eddie Piller, amongst others. I've heard him mention once or twice that he had started writing a Meaden book and then dropped the idea. Does anybody know why?

I of course cannot really speak for Eddie but I do know he is fantastically busy with his shop/record label and time as a broadcaster, DJ. He was also seriously unwell a while back too so perhaps this is why he dropped out of the project and John and Pete took up the reins.

Just got home and my copy was waiting. I shall be reading it over the weekend.
I read the intro and it seems like Eddie Pillar did intend to write a book on Meadon but couldn't do it so handed over his research to the present authors even though he thought he had given it to a certain Mr Hewitt years before!

Ah right. I was quite surprised Polo Chewitt didn't have some sort involvement, edpecially as John Hellier was involved. Looking forward to my copy arriving anyway.

I'm half way through it Neil. You're not wrong. Maddening in places. I'll post my review when I've finished it.
