It depends where you live in Australia , for instance , winter in Melbourne can get a wee bit chilly. .it can drap right down to about 10c. .

Ah've been tae Melbourne in winter time.

Ye jist jump oan a tram car fur a wee heat if it drops below 20c.

Ah wus there in a July and it was pishin wet an' cauld as if ah wus in Glesca. .

I wish I knew you were in town Simon, I could've shown around the place. Besides, the Melbourne I'm from originally we are used to four seasons in one day. I'm in Ballarat now (1.5 hours from Melbourne) and that's like Glasgow in the winter. In fact, it's like that now, and it's bloody Autumn!!

It was a while ago that I was in Melbourne Becky , infact , if '83 refers to your birth year , I was there before you were born by a couple of years . I had relatives over there and travelled around the country meeting them , went to Ballarat too and some other places with Aboriginal names ..
The Mod revival hadn't touched Australia at that point as far as l could see . If I mentioned it to guys l just got a blank look but still beautiful country

Nice one!

However, I must disagree you on the Mod Revival not being around then in Australia. I know what you'll be thinking (She's daft and she was only BORN then, what does she know?), but the Mod Revival was going around in Melbourne - and Sydney, Perth and Adelaide - in the 1980s. My other half is old enough to have been around then, also!  ;) A lot of my friends in the scooterist scene around Australia today (Mods, ex-Mods, skinheads, suedeheads etc) were at some point involved in it all. I haven't bought a copy - as I only appreciate the Revival, but take cues from the Originals - but if you can get a hold of a copy of a book called Stark Raving Mod! it is about the Aussie Mod Revival.

TBF Becky , it was '78 when I was there so the Mod Revival was still in it's infancy in this country at that time and perhaps the guys I met were not really the Mod type anyway or perhaps I planted seeds that later developed into Mod whilst I was back in Blighty ! Who knows . .
Unfortunately, l have not been back but really enjoyed being in your country and was invited to go and work for my uncle in NSW once I had completed my apprenticeship by for different reasons , I never took up the offer when the time arrived . .
Nevertheless , really enjoyed my trip , inparticular Mulwala on the Murray River , Sydney , Newcastle and Melbourne of course .. I found Canberra to be a bit sterile but I wont forget the record shops and bars in Melbourne( even if it did rain). .
I wont make any deals with you , I've resigned. .
I wont be pushed, filed , stamped , indexed , briefed , debriefed OR NUMBERED!
