Ties
« on: April 12, 2013, 07:02:53 PM »
In the past year our two I have found myself being drawn more to a late 60's early 70's look. For example I often you for 20"inch bottoms on my trousers. Like wise my ties are getting wider . . . Have sort of stopped buying knitted ties and like wider even kipper ties . . . So when it comes to ties, how do you like your?  M

Depends heavily on what I am wearing them with, but I have found a happy medium between the stereoyped skinny ties and the wider 70's ties. Around the 2 inch mark works for me, but again, it depends on the situation I think...

For me, never a tie more than 2.5 inches knitted or otherwise.

Yes, I'm going the same way. I think in part because the "Mad Men" look is so ubiquitous here.

So, for the 2 Adam suits I have, I use a 3'' wide tie, but the other suits I have (which I have made with wider lapels and a slight flair) I'm going 3.5 inches, with a larger knot.
I think it looks late 60's.

Yeah, that look.    Or like the clothes Tommy Nutter was making in that period.
