I'm shocked by his death at such a young age. He was one of the truly greats and a firm favourite of mine. RIP Tom Petty, your songs will live forever.

Jeez didn't know about this.  Quite odd that I liked his music but owned none of his stuff, I was actually thinking of picking up some of his albums the other day.

Hard task to choose just one Petty's song, but this one almost moved me to tears the first time I heard it, as it reflected uncannily how I felt then.

In fact, the first Petty albums I bought were the classics "Damn the torpedoes" and "Hard Promises", but I have a very special place in  my heart for "Echo".
