Sta-prests history
« on: June 07, 2018, 05:17:15 PM »
An interesting corporate blog entry about the origin of Levi's sta-prests, written no doubt to promote the current (disappointing, IMO) versiůn of the troos:

I thought the range Levis put out in the late 90s were very decent.

Maybe a bit too wide at the bottom for most on here, though  ;)

I bought two wonderful pairs in early 2000s, with just the right bottoms' width and frog-mouth-jeans pockets, it's all gone downhill after that, except the LVC range.

I'd agree on all counts. Why so many of these so called 'Heritage' brands don't simply replicate what they did back in the days when they gained their reputation but without charging the Earth for the product. I have three pairs of Levi's Sta-Prest. Two pairs from the early 2000s. One Jean style the other with side slash pockets like proper trousers. I also have a pair of the slightly wider leg version too from a little earlier I think. Interesting article too.

Not just the quality/features, look at those prices of yore! A pair of sta-prest cords for less than 10 bucks!

In fact, it seems that Levi's have been making the sta-prests almost non-stop since 1964, albeit with variations in fit and fabric blends. Look at this late 70s ad:

I wouldn't discard it, or maybe they were testing elastane, lol.
