Come to think of it, i have one CSN album i bought just for Marrakesh Express, (a pop song The Hollies turned down....so not hippy  ) and i also own Cat Stevens` 60s stuff, (short hair and suits.....not hippy ).

I feel all the better for getting that off my chest.

Shocking, my friend!  On the subject of Elton John, he used to do (live) a cover of "A Song for You", from Leon Russell's first LP, that I got some weeks ago. A very fine record, btw.

Never got into them despite the great Paul Gambuchini raving about them . Though l am listening to Paul Simon right now , who did look quite Mod back in his early  S&G daysbut the music was never Mod . .🤔

Paul Simon was playing in London months before he hit it big with Garfunkel and "The Sounds of Silence", maybe he took some sartorial tips from the scene faces, though I've always thougth he was more of an Ivy League-ish dresser.
