Picked up a beautiful deadstock Jaytex shirt at the weekend - yellow/brown check buttondown, long sleeve, and a lovely fabric...

Delighted, as I rarely pick up any decent vintage stuff!  :)

Another 36" chest beauty. Pretty happy with the fit:

Cheers, Martin. Shorts are madras by Hackett, very Ivy League!

+1, that shirt "sounds" very nice, it would be great "seeing" it.

Mark, I think it's cool we don't share exactly the same tastes, it'd be boring. Chest pockets seem to polarize opinions here, I sometimes like them, as in this case, I like how it breaks the white vertical lines, as in the classic Gabicci tops.

Throwin' in my tuppence worth on the pocket thing. If I am honest I would prefer a polo/knitwear type top not to have a pocket either inset or on top as in the case of GS' here. However if the general look and colour, price etc appeals I am prepared to let it slide. Many original 1950s/'60s of a similar style had them so I am guessing modern companies trying to replicate that 'look' add them on for authenticity.

The pocket can be a nice dettail (attention to dettail, remember?), IMO. Anyway, if the polo looks good to me, I'm not too fussy over that. As Martin pointed, pockets a plenty in the knits of yore:

But when it comes to a BD shirt, pocket is mandatory for me, be it flapped (popovers) or open.
