Remind me of old Astronaut boots. Little bendy fella Major Matt Mason wore 'em. Nice one.

My brother had that. Cool helmet with moving visor. Came with a weird space-scooter surfboard thingy!

Sorry guys trust me to take stuff so radically off topic. Great to hear some of you remember the Major. Rod spot on! He did indeed come with a space sled. He had a band of pals and tons of equipment too (Most of which I still have I must admit) Blimey Laird I bet your young pal was the envy of all your little gang getting stuff sent over from the US. Great memories I'm sure.

I never actually had the Major but a pal of mine had this toy . He had this sort of translucent string that went from one end of the room to the other and the Major would travel across the room on it as though he was "travelling through space" . .well it was good when you are about 8yrs. .

Exactly right Simon. The thread went through his back pack and he could indeed whizz around on it. Blimey I've sent us all off now. Sorry.

In fact the thread has truly ended up in outer space, lol!

That reminds me of a very funny (and somehow frightening) episode of "Black Mirror" I watched recently, about an introspective, tortured guy who's the brains behind a virtual reality's games company, but he keeps to himself a secret version of the game he's designed, where he recreates clones of his job-mates with their DNA and subjects them to all kinds of humiliations. The thing is that the game is based in a TV show the main character watched as a kid and is suspiciously similar to the original 60s "Star Trek".
