Mid-century Modernist housewife attire today, I'm afraid...

Marc Jacobs ballerina flats... you don't want to know how much I paid for these!!  :-X  ;D
1950s/early 1960s vintage black/gingham Leslie Fay Original dress
Control top, sheer stockings

It's true that the outfit has got more of a 50s vibe than your usual 60s dresses, Becky. I can easily picture someone like Joan Crawford wearing it. Just right for sipping martinis while listening to some cool jazz!

Would you believe I was preparing a 3 course meal for my other half's birthday - including a cake - wearing it, also? He's 2 years of 60, but doesn't look a day over 40...  :D Luckily, the 3 course thing doesn't happen very often...  ;D

I just hope you didn't forget the apron! Jokes aside, congrats for him; and not just on his birthday, he's with the best dressed lady in Australia!

Becky - "I just hope you didn't forget the apron! Jokes aside, congrats for him; and not just on his birthday, he's with the best dressed lady in Australia!"  I agree. Great outfit and what a way to treat your man.

Rod - the jacket looks very tasty and I'm with the dark trouser brigade. Much better contrast.

Here are a few pics from my handfasting ceremony with my lovely girlfriend last week.
Bespoke suit - wool/silk mix (Georges Tailor, Haringey London), DNA shirt, Florsheim boots, silk.
