I'd be happy wearing them for what they were designed for....just need to buy a classic steel framed bike and some pedals with cages first. As someone who no longer owns a single pair of trainers, they'd also do for me in a casual mode too.

What is your opinion on wholecut loafers? Miles Davis looks good in them. http://gentlemenstandard.com/2013/04/30/brotherly-love-miles-davis/

There are similar ones on Yoox, which I'm considering in case they hit the sale: http://www.yoox.com/uk/44565021KL/item#cod10=44565021OP

Not my cup of tea. When I see them I can't help thinking of bedroom slippers, but I have to admit a young Miles Davis, in the 50s, could get away with almost EVERYTHING.

Co-signing this post - carpet slippers with a leather sole, but Miles was the dog's bollocks back then. Dunno what happened to make him end up with the saturated coloured silk shirts and Jheri curl of his latter days.

Remind me of those gardening shoes you see old folks in, there's a place for them definitely, but personally I don't think I could pull them off, so I'd stray away purely because I'm not Miles Davis!

love slippers. have two velvet pairs and would wear a pair in leather, or tweed which I've seen too. Maybe not so much a mod staple but I wear mine round the house and outside during summer too.

The older I get the more I go back in time to look for inspiration. I started with flared corduroy and funky colours, but these days I'm leaning toward the first half of the 60s.

So I guess I'll keep thinking about them while I wait for the sale in January.

that ps is very nice, drakes design's usually are.

I've actually been toying with the idea of marrying my art degree and my obsession with clothes and designing some silk handkerchiefs and getting them printed... but damn there's certainly stiff competition!
