I'm just puzzled as to why it has a hidden button down collar?
To me that is some fussy detail that's just part of this shirt's design for the sake of it.

I like a hidden button down collar, Steve, but I'd agree it probably works better on a formal shirt than on this which, I presume, is meant to worn as casual gear

It would presumably be worn with the top button undone so the hidden button down keeps the collar trim and tidy. Is there a special word for collars that splay out?
It isn't a big collar anyway but I personally would never wear a shirt which has a collar which isn't tethered in some way.

Agree; button down, collar pin, tab, it has to be tidy!
