I was concerned with that inconvenience too, so much that I finally made my mind up and cut the pull up tabs of my suede Chelseas (the black leather pair oddly doesn't give me trouble); problem solved. Believe me, Simon, it's the best you can do: no one will notice the mutilation, as the trousers cover the boots; and I can put the boots on without difficulties.

I did this sort of surgery to a pair of Chelsea boots in the past ,Sydney, however because my Loake's have tighter elastic or something , I feel that certainly at the moment I still need said tabs . I am tucking the tabs into the boots , so lets see if that is any better. .

Not something I would wear personally, but I know there are many chelsea boots/basketweave fans here, and I had never seen something similar:

These are more to my tastes: made in Spain loafers.

Found them by chance browsing through Amazon Buy Vip, Amazon's spanish clothing outlet.  They weren't expensive either (less than 100 ), but unfortunately they've sold out. The link below is to the maker's store, but you'll have to pay full price (200 )  :-\

Yeah, Rod thinks I love hybrids for the sake of it, but in the Chelsea's case there's too much going on there; maybe it's the same with the loafers too, with the kiltie plus the buckle. I've got to stick to the Miles Davis "less is more" motto  8).

Coincidentally, I'm reading -devouring would be a more adequate term- the memories of Iceberg Slim, a proper Chicago pimp, and yes, I can picture him with something like these boots. The guy's "ladies" painted his feet's nails and he powdered his face, in the 40s!!
