I think this may have featured somewhere on here before, but I think I like the reworked Harrington this company is pushing towards cyclists...

Features of a harrington jacket:

Two button funnel collar
Elastic knitted cuffs and hem
Button down flapped pockets
Umbrella vent in the back
Usually tartan lining
Cotton or poly cotton

How is this a ‘Harrington’?

Just like how these days ninety percent of raincoats are ‘trench’ coats when many of them are absolutely nowt like a trench coat!

Says who?

Following this scripture, a Summer issue Baracuta G4 isn’t a Harrington.

Says me.
You can call anything you want anything you like. CBA to look up G4 but whatever that is in the picture above there’s no way I would refer to it as a Harrington. Neither would I call a Harry Palmer type rain coat a trench.

Ah, if it’s just you then I don’t really give a s**t.

I thought you were quoting from some Biblia de Harrington, or something.   ;D

Not ‘just’ me. From wiki ...

“A Harrington jacket (originally known only as a Baracuta jacket or a G9) is a lightweight, waist-length jacket made of cotton, polyester, wool or suede. Designs often incorporate traditional Fraser tartan or checkerboard-patterned lining ...

Over time the jacket has become merged to a degree with the generically collared windcheater, so the jacket may not always have the raised double button collar, ribbed cuff and waist or internal Tartan pattern that is intrinsic to the original design. These will likely not be considered truly as a 'Harrington' by those looking for the original form. “
