Saw The See See and The Junipers at the 96 Tears Club in Dalston on Saturday, both bands very good. The Junipers LP Paint The Ground is quite a dreamy folksy affair but live they were much poppier - owing a large debt to the McCartney/Harrison elements of that old band. And The See See did a West Coast rock thing. Much harder than some of their records and all the better for it. Like I say, both worth seeing.

Week before I saw Comet Gain and they were their ramshackle selves. Played a few new songs all of which I'm looking forward to hearing again. A few janglers including one which referenced William Burroughs and Bryon Gysin, so naturally enough I was keen on that one in particular.
Hello my simian friend.Whereabouts in Dalston is the 96 Tears Club?

It's at the Victoria, a rough and ready boozer down Queensbridge Road. Runs more or less monthly I think. Usually has two or three bands followed by clubby thing: psych/beat/garage type caper. Been a few times and like it down there. Free too, which is a big bonus.

Not strictly a gig - Suggs' one man show in St Albans Thursday just gone. Great night - tons of charisma & laughs + some Madness faves augmented by the keyboard player from The Rifles
Fair smattering of other Mod / Skin types there too - St Albans' not seen that much mohair since 1966 ! lol

Last gig was Freedie Notes in the 100 Club, last week, lots of old skool skins the odd mod, over priced beer, as always, but the music was out of this world, Freedie is a true star....

Saw them in Leeds last Friday and really enjoyed the gig. Sadly had to leave before the end for a family reason.

Thought Eddies beard was a bit dodgy!
