From the figures l read , Col, cd sales still outstrip those of vinyl but whilst the sales of cds are in rapid decline , Lps are seeing a healthy increase in sales year on year , which as l meantioned , possibly would not have been believed at the end of the 8ts when cds became king of the formats ( stopping the cd player skipping in cars was a major problem for them even into the 9ts) .
As we know , with a properly set up turntable , the old analog sound is much better on the ear , though nowadays studio quality sound from a streamer is pretty good though l think having a physical copy that you can look at and hold and read has a lot going for it.

This is where I read about the vinyl sales increase.  I do find it hard to believe, to be honest.  But then I think of people I know who buy CDs... none of my mates.  My son and his friends are the download/streaming generation.  I think the older generation (60+) may be the main buyers of this format now.

I have Tinnitus, so I don’t need a very fancy set-up as it would be wasted on me.  I do however spend out on decent speaker cabling.

Just use my old DJ gear, so 2 x Technics 1210s with Shure White Label carts, Pioneer DJM600 mixer and a cheap Cambridge amp.  Sorted.

Nice speakers , Col ! The SL1210 still change hands for decent money and l imagine not just sought after by DJ's now . When the cd player arrived in the 8ts , l don't think they envisaged that they would still be selling turntables and vinyl in the 2020's.

That looks nice Col; and quite a collection of vinyl you have there.

Just answer me one question though; the 1878 in your picture frame - the Tractor Boys by any chance 😁.

Hi Chilli - thanks for your comments - I have another shelf unit of records in another room but this is the perfect amount and I aim to cull it down to just this wall eventually.

Yes, both me and my son are long-standing season ticket holders at Portman Rd (though we have only attended one match this season, obviously!).  We are having a torrid time of it and our new manager has already sussed out that the players think they’re way better than they actually are and has started to show them the door.  With promised investment from our new owners, I envisage next seasons team looking very very different indeed!

Thanks!  Both sets are end-of-line reductions from Richer Sounds.  Can’t even remember the manufacturers names off-hand - nothing major.  Having the second set of shelf speakers set higher and wider enhances the sound very noticeably.

Yes, the 1210s were worth every penny.  Have had them decades and are virtually bomb-proof.

I think I read somewhere that new vinyl sales outstrip CD sales nowadays.  Amazing.  Also received a new works vehicle recently and that doesn’t feature a CD player - so now deemed a defunct format, I guess.
