another vote for lake burfords from me - I have the dainite sole and they are spectacular boots. Every time I take them out of the box in their cotton bags I spend a good few moments savouring the smell of the leather. Don't take any wearing in either - or at least mine didn't

That ride by Cobo didn't feel right when I was watching it - I'd barely heard his name before that ride - and the way he wore his lid? Jeez! He should have been stripped of the title purely for sartorial offences against the peloton!

RIP indeed - I only got into him 8 or 9 years ago but this is one of my all time favourite songs

I'v found that selvedge denim lasts a lot longer, unsure as to whether that is down to a better grade of cotton or the fact that it's made on an old loom (better weave?) but a pair of selvedge will last me two years at least before they go threadbare in the crotch, whereas I've found that non selvedge lasts about a year before things like the above do happen. I also always turn up my denim and stitch in the turn ups so love the look of selvedge more than std denim. I pretty much wear denim all the time unless I'm going out which isn't very often these days  :(

Charliebravo, I find my Uniqlo are the best quality jeans Ive ever brought. Really keep the colour unlike my Levi's.

I just find that the denim loses its shape and stiffness too quickly - even after 6 months of wearing nudies without washing they still have some 'new denim' feel, whereas the Uniqlo ones feel like they have been washed a few times after just a month or so's wear. You're right though - the dye they use is great and they do remain dark. Thankfully they don't transfer to furniture like they used to do, my mrs used to go up the wall if I sat on the sofa with them on.

I've worn Nudie Selvedge for a good few years now, pleased with them as the fit suits me (grim Tim). I usually pick them up in online sales for around 80-90 instead of the rrp of around 150. Did try some Edwin on in Oi Polloi in Manchester a few months ago and may well give them a try next time round though, they had a nice fit (for me at least on the ED71 - a slim fit). They're a far better denim than my Uniqlo ones which I generally only wear if all three other pairs are out of action

what Martin and Woody said. I'm on another forum that we pay 20 annually for.

I know it goes against the grain of what you said but how about a fund raising raffle of some kind? I guess you may have been sent items to review over at the MC/R2G/HK blogs which I'm sure a few people would chip in a few quid for entries in order to win said items?

All extra work for you of course David but there will no doubt be people here willing to help with the admin side of that - consider myself a volunteer if you want to consider it.

I'm eagerly awaiting for Smiler's book. If I'm not mistaken, the limited edition with the alternative cover has already been issued. Anyway, if you attend the event, report back, Martin, please.

If pledge managed to send you a copy yes, it's been out a few weeks. My copy was posted on 4th Jan (already a month late) and never turned up, emailed pledge to ask where it was and they were next to useless so I sent them an email a day and they just refunded me so I've had to make do with the std cover version - not the first time I've had issues with pledge (but probably the last time I'll order with them), they really are quite useless - kickstarter on the other hand I've not had any issues with
