More FP long sleeved shirts spotted in TK Maxx (around 35 sovs).

Also some RL seersucker shirts long and short sleeves,  for those who like a touch of seersucker and open neck. .

I'd prefer a GS scooter, if you could tell me which TK Maxx are selling those cheap  ;D.

Do you still have your hair cut neat ? It is my local TKMaxx this time Chilster , they nearly always have RL shirts in stock but not the seersucker variety that some of us yearn for. .l imagine the FP shirts will be available all over the land , l don't think there are any Proud Boys down your way . .

Well, the little bit I've got left gets a regular trim 😁.

You seem to have more luck than me when visiting TK Maxx, especially over the last few years.  I've acquired a few really nice Smedley polo's over the years, both long and short sleeved, and have also picked up numerous pairs of Pantherella socks, but both of these dried up a few years ago and I can't remember the last time I saw anything nearly as nice in one of their shops.

I have picked up a few nice pieces from their online shop, especially footwear during the first lockdown last year strangely enough, but you've usually got to be quick to spot them.

I have had Loake , Barker , Weejuns and even some lovely Paul Smith boots . However,  that was over a period of time , years . Recently,  the shoes have been disappointing but it is a bit of a lucky dip . If you see a Smedley , Gant , Brooke's Bros , Baracuta or a decent RL and you like it , I'd grab it . Ted Baker is another brand that appears from time to time , l have had some cracking trousers and shoes from them . Also , this time of year there is usually some great Italian knitwear in merino,  l even got a 100% cashmere sweater for under 30sovs once !!
I reckon regular visits at quiet times will produce gems because l reckon the decent stuff moves  fast but l have gone in plenty times and came out empty handed as much of the stuff is horrid.  .

I got two pair of Weejuns last year and, of course, the old staple Clarks Desert Boots appear quite regularly, I just think that as the number of stores has increased over the years, the pickings in store have become much slimmer.  As you say though, you have to be prepared to go in a few times and come out empty handed, because you might just drop on lucky on one of those occasions.

I've not seen that footage before Col, so thanks for posting.

Does anyone have any idea who the live band is playing in the club?  I can't work out who it is.

Paul, the Footprints, Southampton band

I could see their name began with Foot but couldn't work the rest out.  I won't lie, I've never heard of them so thanks for the heads up Rafa.

Always likes cord and fur collars, sheepskin jackets etc although they tend to bean a bit skinheady. That's ok though because I ddon't have much up top anyway  ;D

I suppose there is a point where late Mod becomes skinhead,  '68/69 ? Of course original Skins were not actually shaven heads like we got in the skinhead revival..
I have a sheep skin coat as worn by late Mods and it is nice and warm however   , l wouldn't wear it if l thought it was going to rain . .😉🙃

Yeah, there's loads of 'evidence' that suggests that, for many, skinheads in the late 60s were a continuation of the Mod ethos, in a slightly different guise.  In fact, in Smiler's latest book which covers this subculture in great depth, there's a few of the guys who looked like and dressed like what became terms 'skins', but who actually still referred to themselves as Mods!!  And there's obviously quite a significant crossover between the two, especially in terms of clothing, but also in terms of music and even scooters to some extent.

One of the new (controversial, it seems) Claudio's polos. A 50s Continental-Riviera vibe to this one, which as you know is one of my main influences these days. I chose the short sleeved version, as I think it suits the style better: Very happy regarding fit and colour:

I think it was Mike that mentioned previously that style of polo top doesn't suit him.  I'm the same; I have tried a couple of different, but similar, styles to that top and they just don't look right on me.

No such problems for yourself, it looks good on you Rafa; it suits your frame and your 'look'.

General music chat / Journeys in Modern Jazz: Britain 1965-1972

Didn't see or hear about this when it came out in July, but Mark Baxter's latest blog on the Art Gallery Clothing blog reviews this release in detail.  Released on the Decca label, this is available as either a 2LP or 2CD option, consisting of 14 lesser known tracks. Both options come with a 20,000 word essay detailing this era of British jazz with track commentaries and artist biographies.  A track listing can be found on the blog.

I'll admit, I've only heard of a couple of the groups/ensemble included on this release, so others will be better qualified than me to comment on the track listing and artists, but I thought it might be of interest to a few on here.
