I've just seen a pair of brown Bass Weejuns in Grantham branch of TK Maxx for 12 Pounds in the sale. Admittedly they had plastic soles, but £12 is a fantastic price.

"Plastic Soles"
That's a definite pass for me at any price...

Said it before - I realise that Bass Weejuns are held in high regard due to their history but any that I’ve seen in the last several years have just look cheap and tacky. There was a Bass shop in the outlet mall near me which I was told a few months ago was closing and last time I was there it was dark. I think they’ve gone bust completely.
Bass was bought in 2013 by a NY Firm that owns other once "upscale" brands. They immediately turn them in to a cheap imitation of their former selves.
I fear Brook Brothers is headed that way, after "Brand Alliance"  the Italian company that owns "Luxotica"  sold them to a company that owns malls and cheap brands like "Lucky Jeans" and "Aeropostale". When "Marks and Spencer" owned the label is was crap, Brand Alliance restored the quality, and now....?

RIP, Ronnie Spector

Sad, 2022 continues to suck.
Ronnie Greenfield, a great talent who had to endure her time with the only creep in the world who could ruin a Beatles LP...

I used to love watching McCloud with my Dad. Never could understand why his boss was always so grumpy with him as he seemed to always get the villain in the end (except for the episode with the vampire!). The whole show was a spin off from the excellent Clint Eastwood film ‘Coogan’s Bluff’.

In Mike’s pic there are lasses in mini skirts and Stevie in a roll neck jumper and sheepie. Poor lad must feel the cold eh?

Loads of people think of him as The King of Cool but I think it’s in the documentary film The Man and LeMans where he rolls up with long sidies, large yellow tinted shades and a desperately uncool corduroy duffel coat. Even he didn’t escape the seventies with his dignity intact!

I was more of a "Columbo" fan TBH...

Yeah Rod, That's why I posted the pic, unless he just got back from Aspen and went straight to a Hollywood party (isn't that Twiggy on the left?) I couldn't imagine why he was wearing that! You should have no problem sporting it!

That seems fairly close to the ‘classic’ style sheepskin as I remember them from when I was a kid. My aunty had one as did my Dad’s mate, just like that. Also TV detective McCloud wore one similar for those chilly nights on patrol in New York City. We used to call them ‘Teddy bear coats’. I’m happy that I don’t live in a climate that would warrant me ever needing one!

In fact we called them McClouds back in the 70s, and every kid wanted one! I eventually got one of them, right now they leave me cold (no pun intended)

I haven't bought a new winter coat in a couple of years, and got I tired of my old Schott Pea coat for another year. I needed a "change" , and this is a "classic" after all ;)

What do you mean, Rod? Apparently they're good for warmer climates, too...
