I'm not a BB rep (honestly) but I asked a sales person.
If you get what they call a "Fitzgerald" fit, it's a slim fit jacket with higher button placement,  and higher arm holes. Less padding in the shoulders too.

The other fits: Madison, Cambridge, Regent, Milano, all have differing fits...

I agree with Stax and Jonathan, that everyone has to start somewhere, and who hasn't made a fashion mistake or 2 in their time? (BTW, I'm "old", have I mentioned that?)
Let the kids sort it out themselves, the ones that really "get it", will be around the scene a lot longer than the
"tire kickers".
Now, about that parka... looks like "stage wear". Maybe if you were in the musical version of Quadrophenia...

It's popular in the south,  definitely (for obvious reasons).  I'm not sure what you mean about the 'Ivy lads' taking it though.

As far as I know Brooks were making 3/2  seersucker jacket and suits in the 1910s or 20s. I'm not sure about the fabric before then. Would that date tally up with your thinking?

Brooks and Press do mainly 2 buttons now in most lines to conform to current trends but I would also say they don't do Ivy anymore. The shoulder alone is enough to say that confidently.

Most everything BB does now is 2 button, I don't mind the 2 button, but the buttons are too low sometimes, that's what kills it for me.

Here's a lot of seersucker jackets:

Ooh nice...but too big for me
When Americans say large, they really do mean large!  ::)

Wow!  that looks like a misprint.
42-44 is still considered a "Large", even though we are the "Plus Size" country!

Cheers Mike. I hope to get plenty of wear from the jacket. Planning to dress it up on Friday with blue sta prest, shirt & tie. It's quite a versatile little number  8)

Yeah, I never really noticed how smart those are, something for me to think about...

Quite difficult, it seems, to find a 3 button seersucker. Pena 2 button, most come that way. Would like a 3 button.

Wayne

A couple of weekends back, the Brooks Bros. outlet store had 2 button seersucker at 40% off, was tempting, but I would hold out for 3.

That is pure tat , reminds me of the k-tel crap they used to roll out in the 70's ( re inventing the wheel).

I think the added "space-age" storage case is the new twist, though... ;D

Great look!

From last nite. Mates 50th Birthday bash:

Ralph Lauren Seersucker in blue & white.
Pale blue & gold paisley p/s.
Plum, or as I like to call it "Ribena" short sleeve DNA shirt.
Howick belt.
Levis LVC Bedford.
Navy Suede loafers with white stitching from John White.
Wine socks.

the suits I have had made locally are canvas,  now the ones that I get measured up for, then are made in China or Hong Kong are half canvas. And I can get those for about 300 ($590).
At that price, I would not get fused...
