A true innovator and a legend of Jamaican music. I'm not keen on his later dub experiments, but his was a seminal influence in early reggae and the man recorded/produced a lot of timeless records.

All of his Black Ark era stuff is essential listening, basically.
Saw him at the Hackney Empire with Dub Syndicate, around 1988 performing the‘Time Boom’ album. Never will forget the reception when he came on stage wearing a miners helmet with lamp and Stars and Stripes cycling shorts. ‘Hello’ he announced-  the crowd went absolutely wild.
