I wrote about how my cheapy black leather ones from Aldo started literally disintegrating on my feet after only a handful of wears while I was walking round New York City so I went straight over to Meermin and got a replacement pair (wholecut softcalf with flex welt and city rubber sole) which I wore out of the shop!
I know what you mean about elongating. I have small feet so it doesn’t bother me so much but a couple of my pairs I would have preferred a less aggressive toe shape.
I actually have a few pairs of Kenneth Cole, which are sort of cheap and they're surprisingly comfortable. Have a pair from John Varvatos where they actually contoured the normal sized heel to look a little like a "Cuban heel". That's a detail I thought was cool...

Sounds interesting, Mike, as the full blown cuban heel is a bit too much
This is the boot. Has a side zip.:

Not a fan of zips on boots, but I like the idea for the heel.

I have a couple pair, like to mix it up sometimes. Plus cleaner look w/o the elastic side panels and easier to slip on/off. All good with me ;)

This addition to my knits collection, made in Italy by my go-to brand Doppiaa, has been cheaper than the last batch of DNAs is and to me is more satisfying in several departments, from the colourway (a mostly subjective issue, of course) and fabric (cotton, so easier to care for) to the smaller (but still keeping the curved points' detail) collar. It shares with Claudio's the slim/boxy fit and the short length:

Truth is I thought it could suit you, pal. Quite understated for an Italian Riviera knit and those blue shades sure are up your street.
